How to Read this Blog

  1. The missions of this blog are conceptual exploration, artistic expression, and teaching.
  2. A good way to navigate this blog is to begin on the Subject Index page.
  3. If you don’t know what a term means, it may be defined in an earlier post or a link. Links have not been inserted using AI.
  4. If an earlier statement of mine contradicts a later statement, go with the later statement. This is because my thinking, and therefore my statements, evolve over time. Moreover, I might think of two different theories to explain the same facts, as in the method of strong inference.
  5. Changes to any content can happen at any time.
  6. The physics posts are not intended to be good science; they are intended to be good protoscience.
  7. The text has not been thoroughly screened for passages that could be twisted to justify keeping old hatreds alive, social destabilization, sabotage, and the like, although a few suspected vulnerabilities of this sort have been patched already. This paragraph is included in observance of the principle of using multiple layers of protection; in this case, against the reader losing sight of the low authority of the text.  I don’t have the time to give many of these topics the hard work they deserve, a comment that applies with even greater force to the companion blog Experimentalist’s Progress.
  8. If some of my theories sound unoriginal to some specialist, I think it unlikely that they are completely so, and they are more likely to represent cases of multiple independent discovery. Identifying cases of unconscious plagiarism-at-the-idea-level will require feedback from the readers.
